B&O American Brasserie – Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants’ first Maryland location – is located in the heart of Baltimore’s business district and housed in the historic former B&O Railroad Headquarters. The restaurant offers a seasonally changing menu from a talented culinary team as well as a bustling street-front bar run by award-winning Head Bartender Brendan Dorr.
In 2009, Kimpton opened the Hotel Monaco in downtown Baltimore and sought a public relations partner to assist with the grand opening of the new restaurant adjacent to the hotel. Kimpton partnered with Profiles to celebrate the grand opening while also raising awareness of the brand in the Baltimore community and positioning the restaurant as a dining destination for residents and tourists visiting Baltimore’s downtown area, while ultimately bringing customers into the restaurant. This was especially important as the restaurant needed to be positioned as chef-driven and not typecast as a typical “hotel restaurant.”
Profiles developed and implemented a strategic communications program to reach the restaurant’s target audiences. Our work on behalf of B&O American Brasserie has included communications, strategy, counsel and events around:
- New seasonal menus
- Participation in local philanthropic and event opportunities
- B&O events (annual Crab Bash)
- Staff announcements (including the introduction of new chefs Thomas Dunklin, Bradley Willits, Matthew Kane and Michael Ransom)
- Quarterly media tastings
- Social media platforms (including Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare)
- Loyalty Rewards Program
Profiles has helped B&O American Brasserie become one of the most celebrated restaurants in town, and has helped establish the restaurant as more than just another “hotel restaurant.” Through Profiles’ efforts, B&O American Brasserie has garnered tremendous coverage in many media outlets both locally and nationally.
