MAC-LogoThe Maryland Athletic Club & Wellness Center (MAC) in Timonium, the MAC at Harbor East and MAC Express in Hunt Valley merge wellness with fitness. All three facilities offer state-of-the-art exercise equipment while the MAC and MAC at Harbor East offer programming in aquatics, group exercise, weight management, rehabilitation, and balanced nutrition.

GOAL

With more than 20 years of combined experience in club management and consulting, owners, Tim and Liz Rhode began to break new ground in the fitness industry with a community that is accountable for the achievement of its members’ goals. To publicize this major differentiator and attract new members, the MAC partnered with Profiles to generate visibility for each location by implementing an ongoing public relations campaign including media relations, marketing and the promotion of special events and programs.

STRATEGY

Using an aggressive media relations plan targeting print, broadcast, and online mediums, Profiles successfully raised awareness to each of the MAC’s unique programs and wellness initiatives to include Kinesis, Corporate Wellness, aquatic therapy, Healthy Start, Metabolic Testing, group exercise classes and personal training.

Additionally, in September 2007, the MAC expanded by opening a 54,000 square foot facility in the Harbor East neighborhood of Baltimore and a mini facility, MAC Express, in Hunt Valley. With the opening of the two new locations, Profiles assisted with the promotion of their grand opening events to include pre- and post-event public relations.

RESULTS

Profiles has acquired media coverage in countless local and national media outlets including coverage in The Baltimore Sun, Baltimore Business Journal, Baltimore magazine, City Paper, WIYY-FM, WBAL-AM and countless others. Additionally, the MAC has regular fitness demonstrations on area television news programs including WJZ-TV, WBFF-TV, WBAL-TV and WMAR-TV.
